THE FILMING

Shooting started this May and will last until September

The shooting of Ibiza Jazz the Experience is divided into three phases. The first includes all the work developed outside the island. The team has already been to Galicia and Barcelona to record the first four musicians who have confirmed their attendance at the Experience. Virxilio da Silva (Sanxenxo), Abe Rábade (Santiago de Compostela) in Galicia and David Xirgu and Vicent Macian, both in Barcelona. There, in their respective places of residence, we’ve recorded them in their environment, working and rehearsing. In addition, they explained to us the challenges of this project. At the end of July, this first run-in phase was closed with a shift to Leon, Segovia and San Sebastian. San Sebastian is where another member of the 2016 Experience lives, Basque bassist Gonzalo Tejada.

The first part of the shooting will be finished in León, Segovia and San Sebastián

The second phase of shooting refers to a series of images that will be recorded in Ibiza. Special images, other interviews and the part dedicated to the sixth component of the group, Pere Navarro, who lives in Ibiza. Other connections of the Experience with the island, as well as the context in which the whole project developes each year, will be reflected in it.

Finally the third phase explains the dynamics of the group and the festival itself. This is when we will film some of the most important shots of the documentary, like the rehearsal. In this preparation session is where we see the confluence of all the work done separately by the six musicians. Here is where they forge the connection between them. The documentary aims to highlight the importance of the rehearsal for what is to come later. The concert is the result of that preparation. And it will also be the last thing before shooting is closed. After that comes the postproduction.
